Stag may switch.

Trainer Philip Mitchell today warned he may delay Running Stag's return to action, so as not to jeopardise his horse's Dubai World Cup chance.

He is tempted to scrap plans to run the five-year-old in the Teletext Winter Derby Trial at Lingfield and give him a racecourse gallop instead.

The trainer has been taken aback by the competitiveness of the entry for Saturday's race, which he had previously seen as an ideal stepping-stone to the world's richest race at Nad Al Sheba on March 27.
