Nedcor of South Africa Expects to See 30% Productivity Gain and

Better Customer Service in Their Home Loans Division. Solution

Implemented With Staffware's Partner, Dimension Data

Nedcor, one of South Africa's largest banking groups, and its customers are set to benefit from the implementation of a sophisticated workflow system in the company's Home Loans division to improve the process whereby home loans are granted and registered.

The project, worth around $1.4 million (R10 million), encompasses processes from initial home loan applications through to bond registration. Nedcor Home Loans expects it to help improve productivity by 30%, reduce processing costs and deliver a better service to its customers.

Staffware, a leader in business process automation, has implemented the workflow solution in partnership with Dimension Data, a strategic partner of Staffware in South Africa. Dimension Data, provided prime contractorship, project management and skills such as integration and middleware.

Staffware will manage the bank's initial home loan application process, which can come from a variety of sources such as estate agents, a fax or even an e-mail, and drive it through credit authorization, risk assessment, property assessment, legal issues and the capture of bond information. By the end of November 2000, it is anticipated that three of Nedcor Home Loans' branches will be Staffware enabled, with further countrywide deployment expected during the first half of next year.

John O'Connell, Chairman and CEO of Staffware said:

"This represents a major breakthrough for Staffware in the South African market, driven by our experience in successful implementation of similar projects worldwide. We welcome Nedcor as another partner in our worldwide "StEP" -- Staffware Enterprise Partnership Program."

"The Home Loans project, will provide the bank with enhanced internal efficiencies and improved processes," said Mark Bowman, managing director of Dimension Data i-Commerce Software. "The reduction in paper and speeding up of the home loans process is a significant step forward in banking processes."

Notes to editors

Staffware South Africa has a long history within the Nedcor Group, first winning an evaluation at Nedcor Group Insurance Brokers (NGIB) on the basis that it had to replace an existing product in time to take a project live within three weeks. This was achieved, fully tested, trained and implemented successfully, with NGIB seeing a return on investment in three months. Nedcor then looked to see what other parts of its business could gain the benefits of implementing Staffware and the Home Loans division was identified. The revenue for this deal was recognized by Staffware in the third quarter of its year ended September 30th 2000.

Nedcor has become Staffware South Africa's first Staffware Enterprise Partner (StEP) customer. This is an exclusive program for customers who commit to a strategic future partnership with Staffware. The partnership ensures that both Staffware and Nedcor are aware of and influence each other's future strategic workflow directions.
