Staffordshire News: Jobs boost scheme is a success; STAFFORD.

BUSINESS is booming in Stafford as council bosses celebrate the success of a multi-million pounds jobs boosting regeneration project.

A pounds 5 million grant awarded to Stafford Borough Council by Advantage West Midlands, has seen a massive 450 jobs created and a staggering 115 business ventures get off the ground.

Now with just six months to go before the seven year Culturegen project, funded by the Single Regeneration Budget comes to an end, Stafford Borough Council is already celebrating its success.

Ray Barnett, chairman of Stafford's Partnership Board, said: "Although the programme has focussed on business development, this has had a knock-on effect for the rest of Stafford.

"The pleasing thing is the number of jobs created is far in excess of our original targets.

"The real legacy of this project will be watching those Stafford business ventures we've been able to support thrive and flourish."
