St. Louis School adds new programs this year.

Despite all the obstacles that COVID-19 has created for education, St. Louis Catholic School (SLS) in Nokomis has not only persevered, but has excelled in bringing new programs to the area.

This year, SLS is introducing a five-day, full-day preschool program to students ages three to five years old as opposed to most programs in the area only offering half-day schedules. In conjunction with the five day, full-day program, parents could still choose to send students three full-days, five half-days, or three half-days.

SLS did not stop at just one innovation this year. They are also implementing a new before- and after-school care program for enrolled students. This program will allow parents to drop off their children at the school as early as 6:30 a.m. and pick up their children as late as 5:30 p.m. for an additional fee.

This should help parents who work out of town or have work schedules that do not coincide with a traditional school schedule. Students will be provided with a snack and drink during both before and after school and have the opportunity to play and do homework. This program will start on the first day of school which is set for August 16, 2021.

Additionally, transportation will continue to be provided for a small fee for students in the Morrisonville, Hillsboro, and Raymond areas.

SLS has had it's doors open for over 100 years and, as it looks, will continue for another 100. If you are interested in hearing more about these programs, please contact the school office at (217) 563-7445 or visit the website at slsk8.org.
