The central bank of Sri Lanka has said that a deal with the IMF is close to being finalised by the bank.

The governor of Sri Lanka's central bank said on Tuesday that the country was close to finalising a loan agreement, believed to be worth USD1.9bn, with the IMF.

The value of the Sri Lankan currency had been declining on concerns that a deal with the IMF is getting delayed. The country is also close to receiving financial assistance of USD500m from Libya.
