Square eyes; Watching.
From soaps, dramas and reality telly to quiz, cop and kids' shows, some have become our friends.
Twitching or bird watching may be as exciting to some people as train spotting but it made a very funny British sitcom in the late 80s.
Jane Burns from Motherwell was a fan and reckoned it was underrated when it ran from 1987-1993.
She wrote: "This wonderfully offbeat comedy followed the on-off romance of a mismatched Merseyside couple - fun loving, loud-mouthed Brenda Wilson (Emma Wray) and shy bird watcher, Malcolm Stoneway (Paul Bown). Brenda's Liverpudlian put-downs contrasting with Malcolm's bumbling speeches were comedy gold.
"Like all classic comedies, Watching has the right mix of comedy and pathos, plus a bunch of wacky characters, such as Liza Tarbuck as Brenda's social climbing sister, and their mother, played brilliantly by Noreen Kershaw.
"This, to me, was like a TV novel - we followed the twists and turns of Malcolm and Brenda's romance until they finally married at the end of Series Seven with some side-splitting comedy moments along the way.
"No wonder it won the Comedy Award for Best Sitcom in 1993. Who would have thought that a comedy about bird watching could be so brilliant?" We couldn't agree more.
