Squad limbers up for battle.

SPORTING youngsters in Nuneaton and Bedworth are going through their final preparations for a county competition.

More than 1,200 children aged 11 to 15 from across Warwickshire will battle it out in the Millennium Youth Games competition on Saturday.

Youngsters from schools and sports clubs in the borough have been selected to fly the flag in football, swimming, athletics, basketball and tennis by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council's sports development team.

Members of the team gathered at George Eliot School, Nuneaton, with a representative of Triton, the squad sponsors.

Simon Jones, sports development officer, said: "We've had a fantastic response and the kids are really keen to do well."

The event will be held at Warwick University.
