Spring tree plantation campaign commenced.

LAHORE, March 06, 2011 (Frontier Star): Spring Tree Plantation Campaign has been commenced in the Punjab. According to press release issued here on Saturday, Conservator Gujranwala Forest Circle Dr. Muhammad Rafiq while giving details in this regard informed that in Gujranwala Forest Circle, a comprehensive plantation plan has been chalked out and plants and stumps have been made available in all six districts of Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Narowal. Dr. Rafiq further told that as many as 20 lakh saplings would be planted in entire circle while sufficient quality plantation stock of Shisham, Simal, Kikar, Eucalyptus, Toot and other tree species including ornamental plants is available on cheaper rates for general public. He said that potted plants would be sold at the nominal price of Rs 2/: per plant while stumps would be sold at the rate of 50 Paisa per unit. Dr. Rafiq told that 23 sale points in Gujranwala Forest Circle have been established and people can contact District Forest Offices or Forest Nurseries of their respective district to avail these plants and stumps.
