Spotlight on mosquito menace in Bahrain.

A plan to combat the seasonal breeding of mosquitoes in Bahrain was on the agenda of a key meeting, attended by Health Ministry assistant under-secretary Dr Mariam Al Hajeri and heads and members of municipal councils.

Dr Al Hajeri stressed the importance of joint efforts to eliminate mosquitoes, by getting rid of marshes and water pools, a fertile ground for breeding.

She suggested spraying swamps with insecticides and treating marshes through biological methods. Thermal spraying machines and micro-spray could also be used, she added.
