Spotlight on Killhope; IN BRIEF.

THE region's industrial history will be celebrated with a special museum exhibition.

Killhope: the North of England Lead Mining Museum will be hosting a stage of the 40th Beamish Trophy Trial and also inviting people to find out more about the workings of its famous wheel on Sunday.

Run by South Durham Vintage Motorcycle Club, the trophy trial covers 120 miles of the Northern Dales in County Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland.

The Killhope section, one of a number of testing off-road stages, will take place between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Visitors can also find out more about Killhope's waterwheel and jigger house during a talk by expert Chris Askew.

Entitled Belts and Wheels, the talk starts at 2pm and is free. Normal museum admission charges apply.
