African Pompano

Average Size: 15 to 30 pounds

State and World Records: 50 pounds, 8 ounces, Daytona Beach

Range: Florida Atlantic coast; some In southern Gulf of Mexico. Also Bahamas and Caribbean. Caught mostly on reefs InSOto 150 feet of water.

Angling Methods: Bottom fishing, drlfting deep-jigging

Limit: 24 inches fork length minimum size; 2 fish per person or per boat, whichever is less.
