Sporting finish on a high note; NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

ALVIS SPORTING signed off their return to the Midland Combination with a hardfought 3-2 win over West Midlands Police to secure fifth place in Division One.

And the Coventry side had to do it the hard way by coming from behind after conceding a penalty following a handling offence by Paulo Razza. Leon Kelly came closest to levelling before the interval when his overhead volley clattered the bar.

The second period saw Alvis press forward with Kelly and Patrick Suffo were both being denied by the woodwork hit the posts before a rare counter attack provided Police with the opportunity to stretch their advantage.

Just before the hour Suffo's deft lob reduced the deficit and then Tommy Maguire's left-foot half volley got through a packed crowd squared matters.

The winner came late on as Adam Robertson's superb cross found Kelly and his header set up Suffo to complete his brace and seal the victory.
