World Cup cricket

Sky Sports 3 from 8am tomorrow

SKY SPORTS aren't starting their World Cup coverage early enough for me, writes Ed Hawkins.

I'm so excited I won't be able to sleep and I'm just like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa to drop off my presents.

Running down the stairs to turn on the telly to see pictures being beamed back from South Africa may well be too much for me and I can't rule out a nasty tripping incident involving my fluffy slippers and dressing gown cord.

God! What if I fell and knocked myself unconscious and missed the whole game! That settles it, I'll bed down on the sofa.

And as for this World Cup Breakfast show, well, you can forget any brekkie of any form. I couldn't think of anything worse than munching my way through a bowl of Weetabix when the butterflies in my stomach are in a frenzy.

Have you noticed how after eating a couple of the fibre-packed cereal you start to retch a bit?

And with that in mind I won't be touching the stuff. With the stakes so high for South Africa versus West Indies any kind of food intake could induce vomiting.

Let's just be thankful it's not England first up.

The Sky team are generally a good bunch but when our boys are involved it's like a suicide club in the commentary box.

Ian Botham is the worst. When anything goes wrong he can't wait to have a moan. "Can someone explain why England are doing this?"

Sometimes I feel like stringing myself up with the dressing gown cord.
