PALACE and Liverpool meet at Selhurst in the first leg of a tie that will decide which team joins Ipswich or Birmingham to play second fiddle to Manchester United and Arsenal on February 25, writes Bruce Millington.

Quite how sponsors Worthington have tolerated the switch of the high-profile Premiership dust-up to clash with their big final is totally beyond me.

Perhaps one should not be negative. Instead, let's start hyping up the last Sunday of next month as a golden day of sport, beginning as it does with the opening Test between Sri Lanka and England and ending with the concluding round of the Nissan Open.

Back to tonight's game, though, the high point of which for most neutrals will probably be the first chance to see classy Finn Jari Litmanen in English football.

Given that these sides beat each other 9-0 and 4-3 the same season not that many moons ago, anything could happen.

Gosh, I hope Palace win.
