Sport confidential: THANKS FOR THAT, PAL.

Byline: Edited by NEIL ASHTON

MARTIN KEOWN'S attempt to get Stuart McCall sent off in the FA Cup semi-final is truly bizarre considering the pair's past.

Keown ran 50 yards to urge the ref to send off the Sheffield United warhorse for a potential second booking.

Fiery McCall was enraged by the gesture... not surprising considering he used to drive Keown to training every day when they were neighbours at Everton.

On one legendary occasion, when Keown had to be hauled off Kevin Sheedy after a Chinese meal went sour, who was there to drag him away from his prone team-mate to save any further embarrassment?

Clue for the forgetful Keown: he has red hair and a Yorkshire accent.
