THE 2003 European Tour season begins in Taiwan today - gosh, this is a crazy world isn't it? writes Steve Palmer.
But for those of you who know your Prayad Marksaengs from your Thongchai Jaidees, the Asian Open is a fantastic event.
Last year I pinned my hopes on Korean star Charlie Wi, and although he finished narrowly out of the places, I did invent a superb Charlie Wi song which can still be heard occasionally emanating from the Sports Betting desk.
Now there have been some catchy numbers in the charts down the years. I Should be so Lucky by Kylie Minogue. Scatman by Scatman John.
But 12 months since its release, the Charlie Wi song is still going strong and if the little golfing magician gets among the leaders at Ta Shee this week then the Taiwanese galleries may well produce a chorus or two of the famous anthem.
All together now: "Oh Charlie Wi, Charlie Charlie Charlie Wi, Charlie Charlie Charlie Wi, Charlie Charlie Charlie Wi, oh Charlie Wi, Charlie Charlie Charlie Wi, Charlie Charlie Charlie Wi..."
