Spirent(R) Communications' IMS Test Solution Wins Multiple Industry Awards.

Spirent Protocol Tester Recognized as a Groundbreaking Tool for IMS Test

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Spirent Communications (NYSE:SPM)(LSE:SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service management solutions, today announced that its Spirent Protocol Tester has been recognized across the industry as a groundbreaking tool for IMS evaluation and test.

Spirent Protocol Tester, released in September of 2006, provides unrivaled flexibility and ease of use for testing IMS and next generation network architectures and services. With this solution, vendors and operators can benchmark the reliability of IMS core elements to ensure customers' quality of experience (QoE).

Spirent Protocol Tester was named by Reed Electronics' publication Test & Measurement World as Best In Test for 2006. Each year, Test & Measurement World's editors present the Best in Test awards for innovative products. Test & Measurement World's editors chose this year's winners field from scores of products introduced between November 1, 2005, and October 31, 2006. Spirent Protocol Tester was chosen for recognition in the Wireline Tester category of Best In Test for its unmatched IMS testing capabilities.

"The IMS market is evolving rapidly and the industry has yet to define testing standards," says Stephane Teral, principal analyst, Infonetics. "This lack of guidance makes implementation tricky and fraught with variables. A flexible approach to performance analysis will be essential to successful deployment."

Spirent Protocol Tester was also named as 2006 Product of the Year by TMCnet's Internet Telephony magazine. Products and solutions selected to receive this award have been instrumental in the explosive growth of VoIP and the IP telephony industry overall. Spirent Protocol Tester offers unique capabilities to test the underpinnings of IMS which will support the next generation of VoIP and service delivery.

"These awards show that the rest of the industry is recognizing what our customers already know - that Spirent Protocol Tester offers unmatched capabilities for testing next generation architecture and technologies," said Bahaa Moukadam, vice president next-generation networks, Spirent Communications. "With solutions like Spirent Protocol Tester, Spirent enables the industry to deploy quality next-generation services and platforms that deliver the reliability that customers demand."

Spirent Protocol Tester provides comprehensive support for all major VoIP and IMS protocols and media formats, including conformance, protocol, functional and interoperability testing, while simultaneously providing signaling and media load generation. Spirent Protocol Tester can test and emulate virtually any VoIP and IMS network element, function or service. Its protocol-independent architecture allows new or proprietary protocols to be added quickly and easily. Its software architecture provides users with unparalleled levels of protocol customization, automation, reusability, scalability, flexibility and ease of use.

Spirent Protocol Tester is the ideal tool for addressing IMS interoperability testing challenges by allowing users to add, remove and customize protocol message headers and payloads. With Spirent Protocol Tester engineers can define and create any protocol call flow using any mix of protocols. Spirent Protocol Tester provides this needed flexibility via a modern graphical user interface necessary for rapid test case creation and easy troubleshooting and tests all VoIP/IMS core Network elements such as x-CSCF, PCRF, HSS, IP-PBXs, Application Servers, gatekeepers, and Session Border Controllers.

In addition, the Spirent Protocol Tester also offers a comprehensive service testing capability with in-built test methodologies for many popular IMS services such as Presence, PoC, and XDM. New services can be easily created and tested with an in-built prototyping capability, allowing for a full set of IMS services to be tested before deployment.
