Spinnaker storage solution used in brain research.

Storage systems supplier Spinnaker Networks has had its SpinServer network attached storage solution chosen by the Salk Institute for Biological Studies for use in its Computational Neurobiology Laboratory.

Under the terms of the agreement Spinnaker will supply its 2Tb, two-head SpinServer 3300 solution.

The institute will use the storage solution to assist in its research on brain cells and systems. This will include functional magnetic resonance imaging of the brain, 3D modelling and simulation of sub-cellular architecture and physiology, educational animations and high speed data acquisition.

The financial terms of the agreement were not announced.
