SpeechWorks International, Inc. Speechify software allows users to retrieve email, access calendar information, and information from corporate databases for immediate response to customer inquires anytime, anywhere. Speechify relays information in a smooth and natural-sounding voice, delivering high quality speech and superior performance in multiple languages and both male and female voices. It can speed application deployment and reduce costs while delivering dynamic, personalized, and natural sounding information.

Avaya Unified Communication Center is an integrated solution suite that delivers wireless, Web and speech-enabled access to applications including messaging, communications and collaboration tools. From phones, cellular phones, PCs or wireless handheld devices, workers can easily manage email, voicemail and fax messages, in addition to accessing critical business communications applications, such as calling, conferencing, company directories, desktop calendar and task functions.

"We're excited to make Speechify TTS capability available to the growing mobile workforce through Avaya's Unified Communication Center," said Steve Chambers, vice president of worldwide marketing at SpeechWorks. "Unified communication solutions can deliver exceptional value to businesses from communications and personal information management tools all through leveraging the value of their existing network investments."

Speechify 2.0

Speechify TTS is the North American market leader in quality, deployments and integration with other speech technologies. Speechify customers include America Online, Bell Canada, Microsoft, National Weather Service and Yahoo!. Customers have found that Speechify delivers the quality, performance and expertise that helps them achieve their goals of delivering a superior service while reducing costs. Speechify understands the context in which words appear in a sentence. For example, Speechify understands when the abbreviation "St." should be read as the word "street" versus the word "saint." It can also distinguish the difference between words that have identical spellings yet different pronunciations - such as record/record or read/read - based on how they are used in a sentence. In addition, Speechify offers custom voice building services and an email preprocessor. Speechify is available in US English, Continental French and Mexican Spanish with additional languages under development

Speechify capability will be available in the first release of Avaya Unified Communication Center's worldwide rollout through June 2002.
