Speaker Jeenbekov and Permanent Representative of UNDP in Kyrgyzstan discuss cooperation issues.
Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Asylbek Jeenbekov and
permanent coordination of UN system in Kyrgyzstan, permanent
representative of UNDP in Kyrgyzstan Aleksandr Avanesov discussed
cooperation issues on July 5, 2012. The meeting was also attended by
deputy Speaker Asiya Sasykbaeva and deputy permanent representatives of
UNDP Sharma Pradip. Jeenbekov stressed high level of cooperation with
UNDP that started in 1993. He thanked Avanesov for fruitful cooperation
and assistance provided to Kyrgyzstan within 20 years of cooperation.
Talking about cooperation, the Speaker said that development of
parliamentarism will occupy decent place in the plans for future.
Kyrgyzstan Government and UNDP signed action plan on implementation of
the State program 2012-2016. This is a framework document with
particular goals for five years that includes cooperation directions in
the UN system, said the Speaker. In his turn, Avanesov said the
Parliament made great contribution to the development of the country,
and added that the Parliament pays particular attention to human rights
protection. "This is an illustration that Kyrgyzstan wants to solve
torture issues and develop preventive mechanisms," said Avanesov.
Parties exchanged opinions on implementation of the State program
2012-2016, and highlighted priority directions of cooperation for the
nearest future including poverty reduction, environmental preservation,
prevention of natural disasters, strengthening of stability through
solutions of socio-economic problems, and improvement of state
