Spawn of 'Frankenstein'.

BROOKLYN, N.Y.: As aficionados are always eager to point out, Frankenstein is the doctor, not the monster. Giving Mary Shelley's doctor his due, and a sex change to boot, is Rabbit Hole Ensemble's adaptation The Tragic Story of Doctor Frankenstein (through Nov. 13). Playwright Stanton Wood, who previously penned The Night of Nosferatu, has recast the doctor as a female Columbia University medical student, and reimagined her creature as a "Linda Blairesque" young girl. Whatever you call him/her, the monster will have its side of the story told next year, when Rabbit Hole debuts another play based on Shelley's classic, also by playwright Wood. Visit
