Spare Change Adds Up for Autism.
For more than three decades, Wawa has been one of the largest corporate supporters of Eden, contributing more than $3 million to support Eden's mission of improving the lives of individuals with autism and their families. Since 2011, the canister campaign alone has raised more than $407,000 for Eden.
“We are so grateful for this wonderful, long-lasting relationship we have with Wawa and for the generosity of the many Wawa customers who contribute their spare change,” says Dr. Tom McCool, President & CEO of Eden Autism Services. “Organizations like Eden are greatly bolstered by outstanding corporate citizens such as Wawa.”
Programs supported by Wawa over the years include Eden's Early Intervention program (Wawa House), summer program and adult employment program. This year's Coin Canister proceeds will benefit Eden's Outreach Department, helping to extend Eden's services to even more children and adults with autism and their families.
So next time you visit Wawa for a cup of coffee or a snack, don't forget to drop your spare change in the canister.
Founded in 1975, not-for-profit Eden Autism Services was among the first to provide a wide range of science-based services to children and adults with autism through early intervention, 3 to 21 education, employment, adult residential, and consultative programs employing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). With a national prevalence rate of 1 in 88 births (1 in 49 in New Jersey), autism is the third most common developmental disability. Recognized nationally, Eden is a leader in working with individuals who have the most challenging behavioral and cognitive deficits. Eden's outreach department offers support and training for families and professionals and has made available for purchase the Eden assessment and curriculum, available in print and online (ELMS: Eden's Learning Management System), which is comprised of nearly 40 years of clinical experience.
