Spain offers $6.6m for reintegration in Badghis.

KABUL (PAN): Spain on Wednesday pledged $6.6 million for the implementation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)-supported Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Project (APRP) project.

An agreement to the effect was signed today by Spanish Ambassador to Afghanistan Juan Jose Rubio de Urquia and UNDP Country Director Alvaro Rodriguez in Kabul, the UN agency said.

"The new funding will help maintain momentum on peace-building activities in Badghis, and serve to accelerate outreach in hostile districts," the statement added. APRP is working to develop linkages to key strategic development projects in the province.

Two institutions for advancing peace and reintegration initiatives, the Provincial Peace Council (PPC) and the Provincial Joint Secretariat (PJST), were established in Badghis in 2011.
