Source Technologies Breaks The MICR Price Barrier

Low Cost MICR Line Available In November

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Source Technologies today announced a new line of MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) printers. Offered at a list price of $1,495, the ExpressPrint 6 is the lowest cost secure MICR printer available in the market today. This price point opens up the MICR printing market to low volume users in a variety of industries.

MICR printers have traditionally been used in the banking industry for on- demand production of negotiable instruments. Although banking applications continue to grow, the most significant impact of this announcement is expected among lower volume users such as retailers. "Retailers are looking to value added services, such as providing money orders and gift certificates to consumers, as a means to grow or retain market share, and to drive up the frequency of visits. The ExpressPrint 6 provides a simple and secure way to provide these services," say Miles Busby, President of Source Technologies.

Featuring multiple paper handling capacity, 600 dpi print quality and as low as 14 seconds first page to print, the ExpressPrint 6 also provides an excellent replacement for dot matrix printers commonly used in retailing environments. The unit will support both parallel and serial interfaces. Twinax and coax connections are optional, using a Source Technologies proprietary interface. Ethernet and token ring networks are also supported.

A second new model announced today, the ExpressPrint 8, will serve the needs of higher volume users. Priced at $1,995, the ExpressPrint 8 offers larger paper capacity and an eight page per minute print speed suited to higher demand environments. Founded in 1986, Source Technologies has been cited in INC. magazine as one of the country's fastest growing companies for three consecutive years. This value added printer manufacturer offers an array of MICR, electronic forms, kiosk and connectivity solutions for a variety of business applications.
