Autzen rises

Thanks to Brian Davies' photos and Ron Bellamy's praise song, now all Eugene can appreciate what I see every morning from Pre's Trail, rising between Alton Baker Park and the Coburg Hills, this structure that Phil Knight describes so poetically as "magnitude." Ah, the Pyramids at Giza, the Parthenon in Athens, the Cathedral at Chartres, and now, Autzen Stadium in Eugene. How lucky we are.

The Register-Guard sports department welcomes letters on all sporting topics. The length limit is 250 words. Writers are limited to one letter per calendar month. Letters must be signed with the writer's full name. An address and daytime telephone number are needed for verification purposes; this information will not be published or released.
