Sotto in the Senate for the glamour and power?

TO RELAX after a hard day's work, I read the Inquirer and came across Cathy Yamsuan's article, "Stressed out, Sotto thinks of quitting Senate majority post" (Inquirer, 10/11/12). I usually do not read any article about Sen. Tito Sotto because I think it would either be just a waste of time or simply insulting to the intelligence of the reader, but that article caught my fancy and I decided to read on. Only to realize that this was yet the best of Sotto. Reading the article got me so worked up that I had to give this feedback.

This duly elected senator is quitting his post as Senate majority floor leader because he feels he works more than the other senators. According to the article, he said "the work of the majority floor leader was not commensurate to the glamour or power associated with the position."

There you go! For heaven's sake, let us be aware of who we vote into public office and more so to the Senate! This duly elected public servant does not have the capacity to realize that he is first and foremost a public servant who is put into office to work. As compensation he gets a handsome salary, loads of benefits and a prestigious title to go with the job. He is not elected to the job for glamour and reckless exercise of power. Obviously this senator does not want to work as a public servant. He only wants the title, the glamour and the power. Santa banana, it is clowns like this that impede the country from moving forward!
