Sotheby's introduces computerized brochure.

Sotheby's International Realty has developed and implemented a computerized Brochure Information Display system (BID). Tailored specifically for (and offered exclusively through) Sotheby's brokerages and affiliates, BID provides the vast SIR network with an easy and effective means of segmenting and viewing its world wide inventory of properties. This announcement comes from Stuart N. Siegel, president and managing director of Sotheby's International Realty, the luxury residential real estate marketing and brokerage company.

Operating on a specially equipped computer, BID displays high resolution photos and information for properties listed by Sotheby's world wide. The system is so easy to use that even those not familiar with computers can operate BID on their own without training or guidance.

Beginning with a screen showing a color-coded map of the world, a client can touch the screen or click a mouse, and select any region he or she is interested in. Responding to the system's prompts and touching successive screen, the client can then choose to focus in on a specific country, state or even city, and begin the brochure slide show for the area selected. Once the slide show has begun, the viewer is free to pause on a specific property and access more information including additional photography, a brief description, and information on the Sotheby's International Realty brokerage office or local affiliate handling the property.
