Sorry to lose Pontefract stalwart Dan Buoy.

WE WERE sad to hear the news that Dan Buoy lost his life at Southwell on November 7. Dan Buoy was a great character and a firm favourite with the Pontefract executive and racegoers. We will long remember his brave trailblazing tactics and how difficult he was to pass - both of which helped him to a great win in the Pontefract Stayers' Championship last year with the biggest winning score since the series began.

The long-distance races will certainly not be the same again and he will be much missed.

Our condolences go out to Richard Guest and his yard and Bamboozelem - the owners of Dan Buoy, who were such big supporters of Pontefract.

We hope to see them at Pontefract in 2012.
