Sonus Networks Inc (Nasdaq:SONS), a provider of next-generation IP-based network solutions, announced on Wednesday that full-services telecommunications company WVT Communications and its business division USA Datanet have enhanced their services and added Class 5 services by upgrading their network with Sonus equipment.

The new deployment, financial details of which were not available, includes a GSX9000 High-Density Media Gateway, additional ASX Telephony Application Servers and a redundant Insight Customer Portal.

WVT Communication is expected to be able to move up to Class 5 and enhance its current services by upgrading its current Sonus GSX/NBS and PSX products.

Sonus said that its GSX9000 gateway features a scalable blade-server architecture that allows customers to add more TDM or IP processing capacity to the chassis as their networks grow and evolve. This functionality makes the GSX9000/NBS Session Border Controller ideal for network peering, international gateways and Class 4 switch replacements.
