Sonoco-Alcore to increase paperboard prices by EUR40 per metric ton in Europe.

Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. revealed on Monday that the company will increase prices in Europe for all uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) grades.

Effective with shipments from 18 October 2010, prices will go up by EUR40 or GBP35 per metric ton.

Sonoco-Alcore vice president Eddie Smith said, a[euro]oeOver the past quarter, we have seen a severe increase in the cost of starches and chemicals as well as an overall tightness of raw material supply and URB in the market.a[euro]

A wholly owned business of packaging company Sonoco (NYSE:SON), Sonoco-Alcore operates 30 tube and core plants and six paper mills in Europe.
