Song for Caden hits the charts.

Byline: Sam Walker

A SINGLE recorded by schoolchildren in tribute to tragic Caden Beggan has broken into the UK Top 40.

Pupils from six-year-old Caden's school, Ladywell Primary School in Motherwell, recorded O, Holy Night to support him during his month-long battle with meningococcal septicaemia.

Sadly, Caden died last month. But his death sent the single shooting up the chart.

The song, which aims to raise money for the Meningitis Research Fund and the school, has sold 13,000 copies in 20 countries and entered the Official UK Chart at No39 on Sunday.

Headteacher Pat Ashworth said: "We hoped to sell a few hundred downloads to parents and family but we never expected it to go so high into the charts.

"Perhaps with so much support, maybe we could have a Christmas No1 - that would be very special."
