Solderless component assemblies.
Tyco Electronics' Elastomeric Technologies[TM] solderless component assemblies use the company's STAX[TM] elastomeric surface-to-surface silicone rubber compression connectors to provide a complete solderless interconnect assembly for high-volume portable device OEMs. Assemblies are available for condenser microphones, speakers and vibration motors. The assemblies minimize the space on the main PCB to a pair of contact pads and eliminate the need to solder a complete assembly. These solderless component assemblies are comprised of the electronic components (a microphone, a vibratory motor or a speaker), a rubber boot and elastomeric connector. The rubber boot holds and aligns the electronic component to the elastomer while enabling the assembly to fit compressively into the front-cover housing of a portable device. The boot also provides the functions of a gasket seal to the environment and an acoustic seal. No assembly is required.
