Solar panels worth Rs 1.2 bln energizing tribal peoples' homes.

DERA GHAZI KHAN -- Solar panels worth Rs 1.2 billion had been installed to energize homes of people living in tribal areas, commissioner Tahir Khursheed said on Friday.

During a visit to different tribal areas, the Commissioner DG Khan said that more solar panel schemes would be introduced to upgrade the lifestyle of tribal area people.

He said that these solar panels were successfully energizing home appliances like tube lights, television, other machinery besides tube well.

He said that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has instructed officials to extend development schemes as far as tribal areas with a view to bring them at par with developed urban areas. 'It is the right of tribal people to avail city-like facilities,' he added.

Tahir Khursheed said that road, electricity, water supply, health and education infrastructure would also be improved in the tribal areas, adding, these areas would also get their share in district level development schemes.
