Softer TPUs resist moisture swelling.

Two new low-durometer TPUs offer high moisture transmission and low swell for improved dimensional stability. Unplasticized Estane X1007 (70 Shore A) and Estane X-4977 (75 Shore A) from Noveon Inc., Cleveland, exhibit volume swell of less than 5% in water vs. typical swell of 20% to 30% in other breathable grades. These new extrusion and injection grades also offer tensile set of less than 8% and specific gravity below 1.10. Applications include protective garments, personal-care products, soft-touch products, strapping, and other medical applications. Tel: (888) 234-2436 * PTDirect: 754XX
