Softball team needs equipment donations.

COLUMN: VETERANS NOTES

Massachusetts Veterans Inc. is putting together a softball team made up of its clients and staff to play in the Worcester Healthcare League this summer. The team is in need of new or used baseball gloves, wooden bats, a catcher's mask and uniforms.

Any and all support toward any of these items would be greatly appreciated. For more information or to make a donation, call John Person, team organizer, at (508) 791-0956, ext. 128.

A ham shoot will be held at 3 p.m. today by the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post 414 Women's Auxiliary, 156 Boston Road, Sutton.

John E. Harkins American Legion Post 42 has elected the following officers for the upcoming year: Warren Stowell, commander; Richard Cole, 1st vice commander; Elmer G. Hurd, 2nd vice commander; Alfred Sculthorpe, adjutant; Louis Brown, chaplain; Brooks Webster, finance officer; Brooks Webster, membership officer; Arthur Howland, sergeant-at-arms; Leo Mullins, historian; and Elmer G. Hurd, judge advocate.

Quinsigamond American Legion Post 318 will meet at 10 a.m. today at 180 Greenwood St., Worcester. Nomination of officers for the upcoming year will take place.

A service officer from Disabled American Veterans will be available to assist veterans and dependents in filing claims and appeals to the Department of Veterans Affairs from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow at the VA Outpatient Clinic, 605 Lincoln St., Worcester.

Hiram O. Taylor American Legion Post 189 will meet at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at Post Hall, School Street, Sterling.

Victor R. Quaranta American Legion Post 397 will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 2 School St., Shrewsbury.

Oliver Ashton American Legion Post 343 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at 118 Church Ave., Northbridge.

Lt. Robert S. Frascotti VFW Post 1544 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 60 North Bow St., Milford. Installation of officers will take place at this meeting, followed by an installation banquet at the Sorrento Cafe in Milford.

Korean War Veterans of Central Massachusetts will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at South Works VFW Post 3657 quarters, 115 Ballard St., Worcester.

Blackstone Valley Vietnam Veterans will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 875 Hill St., Whitinsville.

Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138 will meet at 8 p.m. Friday, 175 Main St., Spencer.
