Soft-touch TPV alloys flow better in molding. (Keeping up with Materials).
A new class of soft-touch thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) alloys combines the processing ease of styrenic TPEs with TPVs' chemical resistance and tactile appeal. The Versalloy XL 9000 series comes from Alliance Alloys LLC in Leominster, Mass., a new joint venture of DSM Thermoplastic Elastomers and GLS Corp.Injection moldable Versalloy XL 9000 offers Shore A hardnesses of 45, 55, and 70 in natural and black. It reportedly has better flow than standard TPVs, which raises opportunities to replace SEBS and PVC in overmolding and insert molding. XL 9000 products are said to adhere well to PE and PP and to have excellent colorability. Target applications are soft-touch components for hardware, utensils, tools, appliances, sporting goods, and other consumer items. Tel: (800) 457-8777, www.glscorp.com
