Soderstrom in late fitness test.
Coventry Blaze take on Cardiff Devils in a game that will test out the title credentials of each side.
Blaze need to win to prevent a larger gap opening up between themselves in fifth place and the rest of the leading pack.
Cardiff have enjoyed a long run of form and will have former captain and all-round bad boy Brad Voth back in the line-up after a suspension was reduced.
Soderstrom has been out since the game against Nottingham that saw a bench clearance, having picked up a shoulder injury before the altercation broke out.
Coach Paul Thompson is pessimistic about the Swede's chances of playing but is hopeful he will be able to play a part to help fill the gap left by Brian Lee, who has a severe hamstring injury.
"We will have a pre-game skate and we'll see how Matty is doing but I'm doubtful he will be able to play.
"I'm expecting a war against Cardiff. They will hit everything that moves. They have plenty of bodies available to them and they know we are beaten up at the moment.
"Our game plan will reflect our situation. We have to be able to conserve energy where we can, so we must take care not to spend time in the penalty box."
Robert Farmer and Tom Murdy will re-join the side after international duty, with Russ Cowley set to continue on defence.
