Social Security Department Director was giving money for tomograph, not taking a bribe -- attorney.

The Director of the Social Security Department, Gulnara Derbisheva, was not taking a bribe on August 31, but gave money for a private purchase of a tomograph, her attorney Iskender Jurabaev told AKIpress on Tuesday. The attorney said that a certain representative of the Spanish international child adoption firm, citizen of Kazakhstan, offered medical equipment to Derbisheva for $10,000, while its market price is around $60,000. "Gulnara decided to buy this equipment in private capacity and on August 31 at the moment of handover of $7,000 to the firm representative Gulnara was detained by national security officers," the attorney said. Gulnara Derbisheva is accused of extorting $30,000 from international child adoption firms for illegal issuance of permissions for child adoption by foreigners. Derbisheva was detained on August 31 with a bribe of $7,000. She is held in the pre-trial detention facility of the State National Security Committee.
