So grateful to Henry; LETTERS.

FURTHER to the Racing Post item on December 14 about my departure from Warren Place to team up with Jane Chapple-Hyam at Newmarket, I wish to offer sincere thanks to Henry Cecil who, in 2005, phoned out of the blue to say 'I'd like to invite you to train here at Warren Place' after Godolphin had purchased my comparatively small premises situated at Moulton Paddocks.

Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity and was delighted with the outcome, as we had a steady stream of winners until fairly recently, when low prize-money and other issues began making life increasingly difficult for so many middle-of-the-road trainers.

Looking back, it has been a magical period of my life, not only because of our own successes at Warren Place, but also to have learned so much from the great man - not just about horsemanship, but about how to conduct myself and communicate with owners, etc. In that respect, I will always be indebted to him.

Another enjoyable aspect of living and working atWarren Place was to observe the Cecil operation bounce back to go full steam ahead after a difficult spell in his long and distinguished career.

My feeling is that the stable's achievements of last summer were just a foretaste of even better things to come in 2011.

Thanks again Henry, for five most memorable years.
