CONTROVERSIAL rap star Snoop Dogg was yesterday back on the wrong side of the law as he took on the police - but this time it was in a good cause.

He and several rapper friends tackled California cops at the First Annual Snoop Bowl - a month before the real Superbowl - to raise money for a children's hospital in Snoop's home town.

The rapper, real name Calvin Broadus, spent three years in and out of jail after being found with drugs in school. In 1996, he was acquitted of murdering an associate of his bodyguard.

Yesterday, however, he tackled his past head on in Long Beach. Snoop said: "This is for the youth man, that's what all of this is about."
