Snooker: bRAVE paul IS winner again.

Crowd favourite Paul Hunter produced a brave performance to overcome

Jamie Burnett in their Travis Perkins UK Championship second-round clash in York last night.

Playing in only his second competitive game of the season, Hunter (above) - with a bald head following his cancer treatment - finally toppled Burnett 9-8 in a dramatic final frame decider after a well-laid snooker on the pink.

The eventual win was due reward for the 27-year-old from Leeds who battled back from 8-6 behind to receive a standing ovation.

"I'm lucky that the tournament fell this Wednesday rather than last Wednesday," said an emotional Hunter. "I wasn't very well last week. I just kept thinking to myself while I was out there that I'd worked too hard to throw it all away.

"I feel really drained. My legs were shaking, my head was shaking and I'm very proud of myself for pulling through."
