Snooker: IN BRIEF - Ronnie rockets to Irish Masters.

SNOOKER: Ronnie O'Sullivan cruised to a 9-1 win over fellow Englishman Barry Hawkins in the Kilkenny Irish Masters final to claim the Paul Hunter Trophy.

The Rocket' led 7-1 after the first session, and Hawkins never looked like getting back into the match.

"I should have gone 2-0 down, but I got into my stride in the fifth frame and played well," said O'Sullivan.

The two-time world champion from Essex was presented with the trophy by Paul Hunter's widow, Lyndsey.

Hawkins, the world number 12, made the better start and pinched the opening frame 62-49.
