Snooker ace Pulman dies.

FORMER world snooker champion John Pulman has died after breaking his hip in a fall. He was 75.

Pulman, world professional champion between 1957 and 1968, had been admitted to hospital following the accident.

He became a professional in 1947, joining the elite company of brothers Joe and Fred Davis.

After retiring, Pulman turned to TV commentary, gracing the game with his mellow tones.

He lived in Northampton with his partner Pat, and leaves three children and seven grand- children.

One of his closest friends, World Snooker Association chairman Rex Williams, said: "John was a superstar and a lovely man.

"He was a brilliant player, magnificent story-teller and did everything with dignity."
