Snooker: Duane lands spoils with ranking win.
He defeated Jak Jones from Cross Keys 3-1 in the final.
This was his second successive under-16 win of the season, but he was given a fright in the semi-final by the improving Edward Topham (Cardiff), who took the first frame and could have won 2-0.
But Duane Jones is a steady performer under pressure and he eventually won 2-1.
Runner-up Jak Jones reached the final with a 2-0 win over Thomas Vedmore (Barry), who had beaten junior international Jamie Clarke (Llanelli) in the quarter-finals.
Thomas Rees (Swansea) looks to be one to watch for the future and he took a good scalp in defeating another junior international, Nathan Davenport fromCorwen.
In the final. Duane Jones started like an express train, racing into a 2-0 lead aided by breaks of 49 and 45, but Jak retaliated with a break of 32.
The next frame was close, but just as it looked like Jak would level the scores at 2-2 he played a loose safety shot on the pink which allowed Duane to take pink and black for a 3-1 win.
Welsh under-14 No 1 Rhys Thomas (Trethomas) won the plate defeating Kieran Elliot (Llanelli) 2-0 in the final.
