Snoddy; EXCLUSIVE Strachan in tug of war over star Strach in tug of war over Snoddy.

GORDON STRACHAN is to speak with Steve Bruce after the Hull boss asked for Robert Snodgrass to be left out of Scotland's next double-header.

Strachan is eager Turn to Page 61 From Back Page to reintroduce key man Snodgrass to the international fold after a 15-month injury lay-off which ruled the attacker out of the failed campaign to qualify for Euro 2016.

The national boss had planned on naming the player in one of his squads for this month's friendlies against Czech Republic and Denmark after seeing him return to action in the Championship promotion race.

But Bruce threw in a spanner in the works yesterday when he publicly called on Snodgrass to be excused in order to continue a course of rest and rehab down south.

Tigers boss Bruce said: "The international break might be an ideal time for Snod to have a few days off - but then I'm bound to say that.

"He's done fantastically well to get to the level he's at now. It's quite remarkable how quickly he's come back and hit the button. The way he's handled it, he's been fantastic.

"I've known Strach for a lot of years and he's someone I can pick up the phone to. When we were signing Andy Robertson, Strach was one of the first people I called. He's been a football pal for years.

"It's a conversation I'll have. You can understand Snod wanting to play and it's terrific news for Strach to have someone like him available."
