Sniper's reign of terror near TV station.

Byline: MARK McGIVERN Exclusive

A SNIPER armed with a powerful air rifle terrorised STV staff and turned the approach to their workplace into a shooting gallery.

One man was hit in the face as the gunman targeted passers-by in a busy street.

Police believe the sniper was in a tower block close to the main entrance of the HQ of Scottish Media Group in Renfield Street, Glasgow.

The building houses STV. Stars such as Sarah Heaney and Shereen Nanjiani use the main door every day.

Last night, Martin Connor, 43, told how his cheek was punctured by a pellet.

The dad-of-four, from Glasgow, said: "I felt this searing pain in my face as the pellet passed through my cheek. It missed my eye by less than two inches.

"I knew I had been shot because I heard a whooshing sound as it hit. I ran for cover and heard more pellets hitting the pavement."

Martin, who was soaked in blood, warned other pedestrians to take cover before reporting the crime at nearby Stewart Street police station on Wednesday.

He later received treatment at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Last night, police said a boy aged 15 would be the subject of a report to the Children's Panel over the incident.
