Snap.Com Wins Emmy Award for 'Outstanding Commercial' NBC On-Air Promotion Team and GARTNER Films Receive Top Honors for 'New Friend' Spot.

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- NBC's Snap.com (www.snap.com), the fast-growing Internet portal service, received the Emmy Award for "Outstanding Commercial" for "New Friend," a 60-second spot created by NBC On-Air Promotion and produced by GARTNER. The award was presented to Vince Manze, NBC's executive vice president of advertising and promotion, and GARTNER's Ray Dillman by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held on Saturday evening, August 28, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

The memorable commercial depicts a young hearing-impaired boy boarding a school bus for his first day at school, and a classmate who befriends him after learning a sign-language greeting through the Snap.com Internet search engine. Gianni Manganelli and Will Rothhaar are the child actors featured in the commercial.

NBC On-Air Promotion served as the agency on the project for the network's Internet portal service. Comprising the NBC creative team were John Miller, president of advertising and promotion, Vince Manze, executive vice president of advertising and promotion, Mark Bennett, writer, Val Nicholas, producer-in- charge-of-production, Bob Holmes, executive-in-charge-of-production, and David Landau, agency producer. GARTNER served as the production company with Ray Dillman, GARTNER director, heading the production with Rich Carter, executive producer, and Jennifer Berry, head-of-production, along with Denise Rocchietti, producer, and John Stanier, director-of-photography.

Commercials airing between June 1, 1998 and May 31, 1999 were eligible for nomination in the "Outstanding Commercial" category for the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The Academy introduced the category in 1997.
