Snap a scene to make people smile.

FLASH, bang, wallop - what a picture! We all love to capture memories of days out or holidays to perfect places in photos - and if one of yours is at a National Trust property it could end up on the cover of its 2018 Handbook!

The National Trust prides itself on preserving and protecting many homes and stunning sites for families to enjoy for years to come.

And it is looking for the photo which best shows how it can put a smile on people's faces for its next annual guide book.

The theme for this year's competition is 'As I walked out one midsummer morning' "We're looking for images that perfectly capture the spirit of this theme, and reflect a real love for - and connection with - nature," says a spokesperson for the Trust.

"It's important that photos convey what people saw and found in nature, and invite us to share the joy of that experience.

"So," adds the Trust, "capture a midsummer morning's walk at a National Trust place and your photo could become our 2018 members' Handbook cover or a member card design - inspiring people to step out and find their own special moments to share in nature."

Last year's winning image on the 2017 members' Handbook was taken by Paul Rook at Burton Bradstock, Dorset, and captures the fun on the beach in just one moment.

So, when you and your family are planning your summer holiday or a day out, maybe you can bear it in mind.

"From rolling hills to magical forests, the judges will be seeking the shot that really captures the spirit of people's outdoor adventures at National Trust places."

So could your photograph be one that inspires others to embark on their own adventure? Two winners will receive a Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5m camera and find their photo on the Handbook or members' card next year.

Anyone can enter, from smartphone snappers to fullyfledged professional photographers - whether you're a National Trust member or not.

One winner's photo will feature on the cover of the 2018 National Trust member's Handbook; the other winner will have their photo printed on the 2018 member cards.

Photos must be in landscape format to wrap around the front and back of the Handbook or cover the member card. For the Handbook, make sure the detail is on the right-hand side of your photo, so it can feature on the front cover All photos must be taken outdoors at National Trust countryside places: Remember the theme: 'As I walked out one midsummer morning' and have a resolution of at least 300dpi.

If you include people in your photo, you'll need their written consent - don't submit very close-up shots (eg. macro shots of flowers or insects).
