Smithers Group acquires Rapra Technology.
The Smithers Group, Akron, OH, has announced that it has purchased UK-based Rapra Technology. Rapra will become a wholly owned subsidiary of The Smithers Group, which comprises Smithers Scientific Services, Smithers Quality Assessments, Springborn Smithers Laboratories, and Synomics Pharma Services. Rapra Technology's 118 staff members will transfer to the Smithers Group.Commenting on the acquisition, Michael Hochschwender, CEO and president of the Smithers Group, said, "[Rapra Technology's] diverse range of analytical, testing, research, and information services to the rubber and plastics industry complements our activities in the U.S. Rapra will provide a critical link to the UK and European markets, particularly in the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors."
