Smashwords to supply Scribd's new e-book subscription service.

Online book news company The Bookseller announced on Friday that self-published e-book distributor Smashwords has signed a deal to supply Scribd, an e-book subscription service with more than 225,000 e-books.
Smashwords will supply Scribd's subscription service e-books from 70,000 authors and publishers, who will be able to distribute their books across Scribd's services on the iPhone, iPad, Android mobile devices and web browsers. Smashwords books will also be available for individual sale to Scribd customers.
Scribd's new e-book subscription service provides unlimited reading for USD8.99 per month.
e-book marketing tools such as proprietary author data and merchandising to Scribd's audience of 80+m users from around the world. Special marketing initiatives will be provided to Smashwords authors, including featuring authors' works on the Scribd homepage in its new ScribdSelects merchandising feature and providing each Smashwords author with a profile page.
